I'll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson
5.0
We were all heading for each other on a collision course, no matter what, maybe some people are just meant to be in the same story.

In the present, 16 yo Jude's clay creations always end up broken. She is convinced that it was because her deceased mother was breaking it in order to punish her for something she did two years ago.
Two years ago, 14 yo Noah, Jude's twin, is narrating the story of he wants to get into the art high school and meets this boy who keeps meteorites in his bag.
In a tale alternating between the past and the present, Jandy Nelson creates this beautiful heartwarming (and at the same time heartbreaking) story about siblings, relationships, family, and most of all, a story about love.

Rating: ★★★★★
I don't think I did justice with the synopsis but I don't think ANY synopsis would be able to suffice and summarize everything that this book contained. You need funny? It's here. You need sad? It's here. You need romance? It's here also. You need heartbreak? Are you still seriously asking at this point?
If you're looking for a book to cry on, pick this up!
I have read this book THRICE and THRICE I cried over this. If there was one book that I would forget so I would be able to read it like the first time, it would be this book. No doubt. One of my all time favorites. A hundred percent.
I honestly feel sad that this is not as popular as other YA contemporaries. But then again, it makes me happy because there's more for us (the people who like it).

The things that I like
☽ The characters. They are all so well-made. Each and everyone of them. So whole and fictional at the same time.
☽ The writing. I know that some of the people who read this book did not like the writing style at all. If you're a fan of lyrical and flowery words, then you should give this book a go. Sometimes, I look up from the book and wonder where the hell I am because it was that immersive!
I annotated my copy and I thought that my pen would run out of ink before I finish this book. I went through two sets of tab all the way to the end. My copy now looks so loved.
It is the little bits of beautiful writing that you will love with this book.
☽ The plot. You want plot twists? There's a lot here. I can't even count them all at this point. Everything was stitched really tight. This story is so together. Compact and concise for the greatest impact. Just like a missile.

Now there is one comment I have to make.
It was that I love Noah's POVs better than Jude's. Maybe because Noah is one of kind as a character while Jude is somehow more common. There is noticeable difference with the way that these two were written.
Noah's POV is just like a whole galaxy, a forest, a coral reef, and everything beautiful in the world. It was also abandoned buildings, cracks on glass, and broken pages. It was painful and ugly.
Noah is definitely my bias between the two.

In sum: If you like a very abstract way of storytelling and more on showing than telling, complex characters, destiny, superstitions, family issues, friends issues, sibling rivalry, drama, happiness, romance, heartbreak, this is for you.
Seriously, check this book out. I'll recommend this to everyone.
