Deerskin by Robin McKinley

Incredibly heavy. Didn't realize what I was getting into when I got to reading it (although I'm sure the summary had hinted to it enough).
My only issue here is the usual issue I have w/ Robin McKinley, which is the long, drawn-out and sometimes winding prose. For some stories, it works really, really well. For Deerskin, while mostly understandable--especially with regard to our heroin's emotional and psychological recovery--it was just too much. I was at the end of my patience.
All in all, true to McKinley's style, although I am not too inclined to go for a second reading.
