You Are Not Alone
by Greer Hendricks, Sarah Pekkanen
I have been a fan of Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen since The Wife Between Us. I loved their last novel so I was thrilled to get my hands on an advanced copy of You Are Not Alone. This book focuses on Shay, a single data analyst living in New York City. Down on her luck in more ways than one, Shay crosses path with the alluring Moore sisters after she witnesses the suicide of a young, pretty woman on the subway then subsequently begins to investigate what drove this woman to jump in front of a subway train. The influential Moore sisters breathe life into the struggling Shay but we come to find their well appearing intentions have a more sinister undertone. I always love that the author uses multiple narrators, revealing the plot and subtle twists little by little and character by character until we start to unravel what’s really going on and see how deep Shay is becoming tangled in the Moore sisters’ web. Their books also put a focus on real human emotions and You Are Not Alone is no different - in a big city like New York, who wouldn’t want a few good friends around to support you? How far would you go to pursue that friendship? This book was fast paced and there’s a pretty decent twist at the end I did not see coming that really ties things together! Perfect snow day or summer read!
