Confessions of a Domestic Failure
by Bunmi Laditan
This book was (I assume) hyperbole, but even so I wanted to ring Ashley’s neck half the time. I recognised some moments and feelings. Motherhood can be tough! But I identified her problem within the first few pages. She didn’t have friends. Moms need each other. But she was so whiny and didn’t seem like she wanted to do anything significant to help herself. She was so naive. That bit at the gym drove me crazy. I did not sympathise. I’d love more time for exercise and she wasted all free moments watching TV. She also didn’t appreciate her sister at all. It would be amazing to enter motherhood with my sisters! I could go on but I’ll leave it there. Despite many annoyances, I mostly enjoyed reading. Okay sorry one more thing. By the time your child is 8 months old you really shouldn’t be so crazy over leaving her with someone else. She was an absolute psycho about the nanny but was happy to dump her kid at the gym’s crèche and LEAVE THE PREMISES. UGH.
