Sheilas: Badass Women of Australian History by Eliza Reilly

3.0

Possibly the most beautiful, superbly Australian book I’ve ever read. Within the first chapter I saw the words “cultural stiffy”, references to both the shoey & goon bags & I just knew this was going to be not only educational, but an excellent read!
Hilariously written historical facts are broken up by a scattering of well-placed modern day social media injections & sarcasm. I know American’s think sarcasm is the devil’s language, but for us Aussies… it’s deep love, hate & humour all wrapped up in one marvelously cutting remark.
It’s just a great book. So well written, such appropriate language & very enjoyable to read.
