Hidden Mate by Jen L. Grey

1.0

I had high expectations for this book because it is right up my alley but it just was not good. I really tried to slog through it and failed. The main male dude is the most boring person I’ve ever met in my life. He is also one of the most unlikeable ones I’ve ever read. He is one of those people that think they are better than others because they had a shitty upbringing. He instantly judges others and the female lead for what they look like. I could go on about this point but I digress.
The author did not flush out any of the characters at all. The male lead just goes with the plot, idk how he makes any of the decisions he makes. For example when he finds out the female lead is a wolf and they are mates he doesn’t really ask any questions then proceeds to have sex with her. They barely know each other and have disliked each other for most of the book but then the author decided that they need to like each other so suddenly both of the main leads do. None of the other characters are well thought out for example all we really know about the female leads friend is that her family has a low position in the pack so they are not allowed to be friends and that she’s a generic female side character that likes sex and outfits(I’m being hard on this point but I really can’t tell you anything about her personality). They is about zero world building(I don’t even want to go into this).

These types of series are my bread and butter and I really don’t care about bad writing a lot but I barely know anything about any of the characters and all of them I greatly dislike. I’m disappointed because this book had great reviews. I’m not planning on finishing even though I only have a couple chapters left.
