seeing the insanity that is the content warnings for a play that's only 64 pages is quite impressive, in a weird way. i thought this was better than goethe's faust part 1, which will probably get me assassinated at some point but gretchen's part in the original text made the entire thing so uncomfortable. i know you're not supposed to put modern values on an old text, but c'mon. he was like 50 and she was barely 14. mephistopheles stole the show as always, no one loves that devil like my seminar group. it was funny and strange and wonderfully written. i am surprised so many people don't like this text! i read the A text, which maybe lends some different perspectives, but the fact faust talks to himself entirely in the third person is genius, idk. faust and mephistopheles kissing compilation 10 minutes on youtube? well, i mean selling your soul to the devil can only end in one way.
