The Only Good Indians by Stephen Graham Jones

Wasn’t sure what to think about this story. It grabbed me at the beginning and kept me reading. I have to admit I’m an animal lover and the idea of an animal getting revenge on some hunters is the kind of story I crave. I was doing good until Lewis killed Shaney. It seemed to come out of nowhere. It escalated so quickly from just wanting to try and see if she looked different through the fan to being so sure of who she is that he has to kill her. I found it a little hard to swallow but didn’t let it stop me. I continued on and didn’t have a problem until the fight between Gabe and Cass. That too seemed a little forced. Right up until the basketball game between The Girl and Elk Head Woman this story was getting three stars. That ending was so great I forgave anything that happened before it. I can’t wait to try another story from this author I hope it’s as good.
