An Unexpected Haunting: A paranormal, midlife rom-com that will make you laugh out loud! by Anne Brooke

5.0

My very first book by this author and I love it! In fact, there are so many things I loved about this book: a mature and sensible female protagonist, a ghost story that doesn't spook me, a sprinkle of romance, lots of funny moments, and the main action scene happening at a library!

Indeed, the focus on a woman in her fifties adds a refreshing perspective to the paranormal genre, breaking away from the typical younger protagonists. Alicia is a lovable and sweet character. The dynamic between her and her nephew, Alex, added depth to the story.

The choice of a library as the epicenter of the haunting adds an interesting dimension to the narrative. The story was an easy, fun, and quick read. I finished it in a day but mostly because I was enjoying it. I look forward to reading more books by Anne.
