Perfume: The Story of a Murderer by Patrick Süskind

3.0

Originality appears once in a blue moon. As someone who might have been a sniffing dog in her past life, I was so intrigued by this premise. Also there is a speculation that this was Kurt Cobain's favorite book. So yes the expectations were high, but to my dismay it didn't live upto my wishes. The prose is fantastical and so discriptive that I wanted to bath in those concoctions. But later the charm died down due to repetition. One might see this differently as someone descending from obsession into madness. Sure, I'll agree but I got bored. So 3 stars.
