A TRIP TO REMEMBER: SARA BENINCASA'S DC TRIP

I have had a longtime love affair with Washington DC. I've been there 3 or 4 times and each time I consider moving there--until I remember the insane summer heat and the chilling cold of winter. And the awesomeness of the museums is offset by the craziness of the political realm--you really have to LOVE it to live there.

Alicia Deats is a new teacher. After a disasterous first meeting with one of her coworkers, she is determined to get Bryan Kenner to forgive her for a huge faux pas. Since Bryan is the head of the sohpomore class trip to Washington DC, she volunteers to be the co-chaperone in the hopes of apologizing. Her students quickly learn they can play Alicia's trusting nature against Bryan's critical one and while the rules have been drawn firmly in the sand, the students work to bend the rules and make this DC trip the best one ever.

Best friends Gertie, Rachel and Sivan battle their mortal enemies and try to manipulate their way around DC (and the rules) in order to find Gertie's dream guy (the one she's avoided at camp for years BECAUSE of her crush) and find a place where Sivan fits in... with a mix of underage drinking, drag queens and Doctor Who, DC Trip delivers the perfect kind of trip--one you don't have to pack for!

Who would read this: ya and chick lit fans, fans of comedy, anyone who has ever been on a class trip and lived to tell the tale.

Funny Story: Ian Michael Black gave glowing reviews, so I cannot complain.
Final thoughts: I think this is one of my favorite books of the year!
