Harry Potter and the Cursed Child: Parts One and Two by John Tiffany

4.0

I wouldn't say I'm the biggest Harry Potter fan, but I did really enjoy the series. I wasn't going to pick this up, but my brother happened to buy it, and I figured why not when it is just lying around. This can't really be compared however since it isn't a book, it's a script for a play. A play cannot possibly be compared to novels. There isn't detail in a play because it is supposed to be performed. It is purely dialogue with occasional stage directions. So keeping that in mind, I think it is a good story. It felt more like a fanfiction because we get to revisit all our favorite characters and places and such things and see a few things we always wanted. Still, it is thought out fairly well. It took awhile for me to really understand where it was trying to go, but once there, I did enjoy what they decided to do with it. It is also comforting to know that their lives continued and weren't perfect after the books. They are still very real, and their stories will continue to go on down to our children. If you felt the series ended well enough, then don't feel compelled to read this. However, if you was to see those favorite characters one last time and know that their story doesn't just end, then by all means do. It has something to offer.
