A novella should not be able to do this much emotional damage!!

I'm not sure what my expectations were going into this after demolishing [b:The Serpent and the Wings of Night|60714999|The Serpent and the Wings of Night (Crowns of Nyaxia, #1)|Carissa Broadbent|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1648567430l/60714999._SX50_.jpg|95720800], but this absolutely blew me away. In under 200 pages I was completely immersed into Lilith's story, and genuinely invested in her search for a cure for her people. The characters felt really well fleshed out (again, this is a novella and I can't believe how well we get to know our protagonists??), and I felt I had an understanding of this part of the world (although a standalone, this sits within the Crowns of Nyaxia universe).

Lilith was actually really relatable, and Vale was so intriguing. Again, for such a short story their romance didn't feel rushed, and I am completely and utterly in love with them both.

This has truly set the bar for what I now need from novellas
