I really dreaded reading this book considering I did not enjoy the first one. This book was not any better, and if anything it was worse. Adrian and Isolde fight and fuck in every chapter and I never understood what they were fighting about. It was getting incredibly aggravating. They both also suck at communication and pick fights out of thin air. Isolde is such an unlikeable person to me, like I would never want to be around someone like her. Also, although Adrian is a protagonist in the book he also feels like the antagonist. Half the time, I felt like half the issues in the book could be solved if Adrian died. Isolde and Adrian are literally dictators! Their rule is so tyrannical, no wonder they have traitors amongst them! Killian has improved in terms of tolerability, but he’s also lost the personality that was given to him. Isolde transforming into that auf-monster was so ugly. Like out of all the powers, she had to shift into this weird demonic creature? Ew. The whole traitor thing was the only interesting part about this book because otherwise there was no plot. I am definitely pro-traitor. Also, in my last review I said that Nadia gave me bad vibes and would try to kill Isolde so I am happy to see it was confirmed. It felt so obvious from the beginning of the first book. Also, I think Ana’s motives and intentions felt obvious very early on and I was just waiting for it to be revealed. Overall, this book was the fighting and fucking with a sprinkle of plot only towards the end. The sad part is I think the author writes really well, but the execution was poor. A plot diagram for this book would be largely flat with a small peak at the very end. I now know I will NOT be reading the 3rd book.
