Things We Never Got Over by Lucy Score

emotional funny hopeful tense fast-paced

5.0

This book has everything—it's hot, funny, dramatic, tense, and romantic. It’s not just a fluffy romance; it actually has some stakes. The characters are a delightful mix of funny, witty, wise, and sweet. They’re accountable and show significant growth, which is refreshing.

As an eldest daughter lugging around a suitcase full of expectations, Naomi's struggles hit close to home. And Knox? Oh boy, I fell hard. This fictional man is ruining my expectations of real-life partners. Seriously, my marriage might be in danger. Not only is Knox incredibly hot and unknowingly sweet, but he's also a humble and generous millionaire—a rare unicorn in the romance genre.

Naomi is smart, gorgeous, and incredibly kind, even when life decides to throw lemons at her without offering any sugar for lemonade. Her relationship with Waylay is pure gold and so heartwarming it could melt the iciest of hearts. I never thought I’d cry at a preteen football match, but those tears hit me like a rogue soccer ball to the face—unexpected and surprisingly moving.

The book even packs in some action! The friends are a riot, the whole town is lovely, giving off serious Stars Hollow vibes, but with a touch more edge—just enough to keep things interesting.

This is my first Lucy Score book, and I’m officially hooked. Looks like I’ve got a new favorite author, and my reading list just got a lot longer.
