The best part of this book was the unapologetic celebration of queerness: from the side characters and the neighbours to the random stranger and, of course, the protagonists. Casey McQuiston truly wrote a love letter to the community. I also found the sci-fi element of the story interesting and well-thought-out, it gave this otherwise generic romance novel something new.

However, although it was fun, I can’t say I loved this book. The story got too rom-com-y for my taste and the exaggeration of the already cliche character traits put me off and made me roll my eyes a tiny little bit. It also made the book feel long. I’m a believer in insta-love, but the way it was executed here didn’t convince me and impacted my overall investment in the romance between the girls.

Would recommend this if you want to have a good time and need a dose of queer joy. Also, go for the audiobook, great narration!
