Song of a Captive Bird by Jasmin Darznik

5.0

I think Jasmin Darznik’s book The Song of the Captive Bird has earned the tough spot of my number one favorite book of all time. This review feels impossible to write because I imagine I will be meditating on the richness, meaning, and layers of this novel for months and likely years to come. If you’re thinking of reading it, do not deprive yourself and order it now. There was not one page that did not propel me forward until the very end. This work of art is packed with important lessons, truths, and rich beauty conveyed through the remarkable life of the iconic Forugh Farrokhzad. I can not recommend this book enough. Thank you Jasmin Darznik for not just telling a story but making us feel her voice and heart in every page.
