The Singles Table by Sara Desai

5.0

The Singles Table by Sara Desai is her third novel in her California Desi universe. While there a few characters that pop up from her previous two titles, this one mainly has new and fresh characters.

Zara Patel and Jay Dayal have both been broken from their parents' failed relationships as well as bad breakups for Zara and PTSD for Jay. Thrown together at the Singles Table for a cousin's and friend's wedding, the two are like oil and water. But they strike a deal: that Zara will find Jay someone special and Jay will introduce Zara to some of his security firm's celebrity clients. As Zara tries to find him someone, they both start falling for the other, as much as they fight against their feelings. Will Zara and Jay get together, and stay together, despite their issues? Or are they destined to stay at the Singles Table forever?

As with Desai's previous novels, this one was a fun romantic comedy that through the humor, touched on deeper subjects. Jay and Zara were likeable enough, even though I was mentally screaming at them half the time when they couldn't see what was right in front of them!
