Everybody Has a Podcast (Except You): A How-To Guide from the First Family of Podcasting
by Griffin McElroy, Justin McElroy, Travis McElroy
Coming off of their podcast, I was not so sure how helpful this book was going to be. These three brothers have made their legacy on giving advice they are not qualified to give but doing it in such a funny way that I can’t stop listening. This book kept their signature charm and even had me laughing out loud at a couple parts while offering something frequent listeners wouldn’t expect: really, really good podcasting advice.
The mix of building the reader up with enough confidence but not so much that they will enter into the podcasting world with an unearned bravado is essential to the book. Each brother gets enough of a turn to speak and share their expertise to the point where you feel equipped to make your own show by the end of it- not to make money, but because you really, really want to. It holds at its center one of my personal favorite philosophies: do it, even if it sucks.
Overall a fun, lighthearted, and entertaining read with more information than I anticipated. Just the right amount of goofing and serious information.
