The story is told in a podcast format. Clever, but a little cringy. Seriously? You don't want to hold any of these details back, Lucky?
Ollie and Lucky. Former pro surfer, CEO of a surf company (?), and big brother to Allie, Lucky's best friend. Writer at a Buzzfeed-type site, dater of jerks and on a man hiatus. She travels down to AUS to report on a surfing tour, sponsored by Ollie's company. Australia to Bali to South Africa to exotic surfing locales galore to. Somewhere along the way, she falls in love with him.
She might have forgotten to mention her dead mom and her commitment/abandonment issues. He might have forgot to mention that he was once engaged.
Conflict/miscommunication/lack of communication and Lucky leaves Ollie in Huntington Beach, fleeing back to NY. He chases after her, but it's too late... until we get to Part II.
