Thank you To Harper Collins Teen and Goodreads for the copy of this book.

Jeff Zentner's "The Serpent King" is one of my favorite books, and I adored "Hello Girls" by Brittany Cavallaro (and Emily Henry), so I was delighted to find out that I won a copy of this book.

Sunrise Nights read like a modern-day version of a romance movie that Joni in her teens and 20's would have ADORED. Richard Linklater's Before Sunrise Installments are in my top 20 films of all time. This book had the same vibes as "Before Sunrise". However this is set at a camp for the arts in my good ol' home state of Michigan (although in a fictional city). Now picture the slow burn of three sunrise nights over three consecutive years. Florence is a dancer who suffers from Nystagmus and amblyopia, which is slowly taking away her ability to dance. Jude is a photographer who suffers from anxiety coupled with spiraling thoughts. Both are drawn to one another, but it seems the timing (and they) are never quite right, never quite ready.

I don't want to give away too much without spoiling the plot, but what I can say is that if I wasn't highlighting the prose in this text, I was laughing out loud at some of the funny moments, and grinning like a fool at the sweet ones. The writing here is good. Some parts are written in verse or short prose ( I don't think it adhered to any particular pentameter), but most of the book is written conversationally. The story itself is well-paced, and the characters draw you in. I think adults and young adults alike would be charmed by this story. The authors did a great job of hooking me in and keeping me there.
