readerharris 's review for:
The 19th Wife
by David Ebershoff
This was an intriguing book. I found this book through recommendations Goodreads had for me, based on what I've read, and I listened to the audiobook from the library. It's a mixture of the history of Ann Eliza Young, one of Brigham Young's wives, and the story of Jordan's mom, Becky Lynn, also a nineteenth wife and accused of murdering her husband. While I found some pieces of the story to be dragging, I couldn't turn it off completely and not finish it. The idea of celestial marriage and how it came to be just bother me. I appreciated the mixture of the stories, so as to show the reader the differences between time then and today.
