Her Knight at the Museum by Bryn Donovan

This should have been fun. Alien or robot or medieval knight in the modern world frequently results in hijinks and misunderstandings... I really don't know what went wrong exactly. The ingredients were all here; they just didn't cook.

This should have been like that movie with Amy Adams but gender-swapped. That actually did work. You think it's cute in a cartoon when a princess talks to rodents, until you think about how it would be if she just summoned rats all over your apartment. It's awesome.

Maybe the author just didn't have enough plot figured out before starting, I guess. It was like, main conflict: statue comes to life.... solution:...and here he is... We definitely needed more secondary conflicts, I guess, for the plot to work. I feel like the heroine and the heroine's friend just went with this entirely too quickly. A belief in crystals, I don't think, would make a person believe that a statue turns into a man without visual proof. But I'm not worried about being realistic here lol. I'm talking about the complete lack of narrative tension.

Sir whatever also wasn't very likeable imo. Kind of a weird, arrogant perv, actually?
