This book was an exciting start to The Scared Stone Series. It was packed full of action, adventure, betrayal, and a sprinkle of sexual tension. There were some twists I saw coming, but others caught me by surprise. I’m usually quite good at picking out plot twists before they are revealed but I was pleasantly surprised that I didn’t see them coming.
The characters in this story had been all over the place. Especially our main character, Arwen. I found myself caught between empathizing with her and also being annoyed with her thoughts, actions. I think at the end of the story I was more understanding of her and her actions. There was a section in the middle where she had was too focused on her own problems rather than seeing everything around her was also suffering, but I think she definitely made up for it in the end. Our MMC, Kane was absolutely swoon-worthy! There were of course times where I was with Arwen on wanting to simultaneously throttle and cuddle with the man
