The Shadow Over Innsmouth
by H.P. Lovecraft
At 77 pages this would qualify as a short story in my reconning.
I somewhat reluctantly read this short for the Horror Aficionado's 2022 Summer Reading Challenge "Aquatic Horror." I have read "At the Mountain of Madness," and "The Dunnwich Horror" really, really did not care for them at all. I have tried to read some of Mr. Lovecraft's other works and have abandoned them rather quickly. In general I find the writing an odd combination of flowery and yet still tedious and dry, but I actually enjoyed this one. Maybe I have not given H.P. Lovecraft a fair shake.
