Gunmetal Magic
by Ilona Andrews
Gunmetal magic was a book that I wanted to read only because I loved the Kate Daniels books so much. But now that I've read it, I'm sad there's not another Andrea book to read.
I like Andrea. Overall I think she's a pretty tough cookie and a decent female lead; but I wasn't on her side with the whole "relationship conflict fiasco". When you add up all the events from the beginning - I kinda side with Raphael and I felt he was the injured party. Still I liked their bantering and I enjoy the humor the authors inject into the story. I liked Andrea's comaraderie with Ascanio. I really like Roman and hope he continues to make an appearance in future installments.
The action was great and plentiful. Egyptian gods, snake people and of course lovely relics (staff, horn) keep the story moving, fast and furious. There are issues that Andrea couldn't solve on her own, so of course we get to see Aunt B, Jim and the gang.
I hope Ilona Andrews gets around to writing another Andrea book someday! I really enjoyed it.
