The Book of Eels: Our Enduring Fascination with the Most Mysterious Creature in the Natural World by Patrik Svensson

reflective slow-paced

2.0

I liked it, but I did find it very annoying at times. It’s slow and philosophical and half an autobiography and I wasn’t prepared for that, so at some point it started really getting on my nerves. I just wanted to learn about eels! Also some of the rambling minor questions in the philosophy bits are just, silly? Or at least I disagreed. I wish it had been faster paced, but I did find it interesting again and the ending was compelling.

I have continually downgraded this book’s rating because of the hatred in my heart for it. I am always surprised at how mild and nice my written review was when I read it. This book has left an impression on me, but all it is is anger. I can safely say I hate this book. I will try to restrain myself from putting it under 2 stars, as I did think it was passable at the time.
