hanntastic 's review for:
The Sand Child
by Tahar Ben Jelloun
Global Read 117: Morocco
At first I really liked this book. The premise was interesting and while the story was moving linearly it was really engaging. But eventually the multiple layers of the story really collapsed on themselves. The book lost all sense of time line and place and character and there were too many stories within stories to keep track of. In the end I think the author tried to have too many interesting plot devices and it overwhelmed the story. I really struggled through the second half.
