I get what this book was doing, and I found it moving at parts, but it was mostly a dreary march through a terrible marriage. I just had absolutely no sympathy for Gil and it made for an unpleasant reading experience. I didn’t much care for Flora either. And so much of this was utterly bizarre and frankly eye roll inducing. Justice for Nan.
