I was apprehensive about the age gap from the start but from the summary I thought their relationship would be strictly platonic until Joe was an adult. I don't like that Joe latched onto Ox and Ox didn't really have a choice. I thought it was weird how Joe would get jealous when Ox went on dates and how Ox felt the need to apologize to Joe for it. I had to DNF when Ox started feeling attracted to Joe while he was 17 - why couldn't it have been written to happen later when Joe was an adult? And for that matter, why did they need to have such a large age gap in the first place? If they were closer in age everything could have felt a lot less icky.
