Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse
3.0

big up ME finally reading a book recco (and the josh who recommended it lol) , it's always good to read something outside of what i would normally choose!

a very matter-of-fact and measured tone permeates the book, which reflects the peace and calmness that mr siddhartha himself is trying to gain in his life. the story is short and sweet, and hermann hesse does not waste a single word to dip his toes into a variety of themes such as romantic love, parental love, friendship and one's identity (to name a few). the book does a wonderful job of posing existential questions, and i guess the point is to pose the question and then WHOOP move on to the next one but i wish more would have been explored, it felt like every character interacted with was just a touch and go and i just need more attachment to be invested in the story.

literally read the entire thing in a day lol
