The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie

mysterious tense

5.0

yet another agatha christie 5 star, i just can't help it. the way this book is so well-crafted is too good to explain. the only possible way (for me, at least) to guess the killer was to choose the most out-there option, and i was right! simply because it was so outlandish and i couldn't fathom how it would be executed, but executed it was. the moments of tension in chapter 25 actually caused me heart palpitations.
hercule poirot, my main man, he did it again. can't get enough of his character. narration was perfection, everything was so carefully placed. truly a fantastic novel, i don't think it's possible for agatha christie to disappoint me with a plot, honestly.
