Interesting first book for a new fantasy series. I really liked some parts, especially the beginning few chapters, but other parts didn't work for me. Honestly, I think I'm not the right audience for Distant Rumblings. I felt kinda old (LOL) because I kept thinking how young the kids (Kane, Hawk, Spike & Jewel) seemed. (I haven't reached middle-age yet.)

And I felt bad for Spike - poor, deluded, misguided, violent & murderous Spike.

I'm undecided on if I want to try the second book in the series.
