Goth: A History by Lol Tolhurst

informative reflective relaxing fast-paced

2.75

This is not so much a history as it as a book of goth references by the author. It is all pretty much loose ties with little regard for organization. It could have used an editor if not an outline at least. The writing is fine but the time jumps, goth-media pivots, and random anecdotes come off as a grasp for straws rather than a thoughtful guide for those familiar or unfamiliar with the genre.

Tolhurst also uses “slings and arrows of outrageous fortune” about three times too many to describe several bands.
