The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

5.0

First of all, this was ABSOLUTELY not my normal type of book. I was kind of in a reading rut, and just needed something out of my normal genres and thought I'd hit one of those "big best seller" hits that everyone has read. I honestly went in 100% blind, with no reviews read, etc. I simply chose it from Libby and went with it.

This one gripped me pretty quickly. (Well Evelyn did)... I'm not sure why. I don't usually dig her kind of "oh I'm so great, yet I've done bad things" type of characters, but this author nailed it. She covered all the emotions. Monique was ok... not sure I loved or hated her, but again, this book tugged at all the emotions for me.

TJR was great here, building characters, breaking them, letting them try to heal, and then beating them a bit more? I won't say much more, to avoid spoilers, but I truly loved this book, and the writing was fantastic for me. (TBH I listened on Libby to the audio version.)
