This was a funny choice for my first Bechdel read, as it references her previous work in parody so frequently, but my reading schedule was dictated by Libby book availability. The fictionalized version of her life was so funny and endearing. I laughed out loud at so many small bits, some were just small details in the background of a panel. (Bumper sticker that reads “my other car is a gun”) I understand why she classified it as a “comic novel” rather than a “graphic novel” because the witticism feels straight out of the Sunday funnies. Definitely wasn’t as blatantly Marxist as the chapter titles lead me to believe, but maybe I need to think more about polyamory ties into communism.
