Buffy the Vampire Slayer #1 by Jordie Bellaire

5.0

As soon as I saw that Jordie Bellaire had written Buffy The Vampire Slayer comics, I immediately wanted to read her and them! I found her Vampirella/Red Sonja mashup first though, so I did think I should start there and read the first volume of their story, but after I finished that, I was really considering reading some of the Buffy books. I did look for some romance books because I’m a weirdo and was thinking about saving read the Buffy comics for I don’t know when instead of just downloading them as soon as I possibly could. I couldn’t really find anything in Romance that jumped out at me, so I did eventually go look up Buffy the Vampire Slayer #1, signed up for Comixology Unlimited, and read it right before I went to bed.

I was floored when I started reading it because I don’t typically read a lot of comics first off and then the fact that it was one with Buffy — well, it was just very exciting. I love the show so much, it’s my second favorite of all-time and getting to read about Buffy in a book was such an awesome experience. I think Jordie Bellaire did a wonderful job capturing the characters we all know and love, though there were still some surprises that I wasn’t expecting, but I appreciated that. Also, the artist, Dan Mora, was amazing too because the characters were recognizable, but he also made them his own.

I really enjoyed this first part of Ms. Bellaire’s Buffy story! It made me laugh, reminded me of the show in the best way and I’m interested in what dastardly thing the vamps are getting up to. I can’t wait to start the next book!
