I thought we were better than the miscommunication trope and yet here we are. I'm not mad... I'm just disappointed.
Also for once I agree, the cartoonish cover was deceptive, this was smuttier than I expected. Normally that's fine by me but, in this case its kind of all that the romance was. Lucie and Aidan were tossed around for the convenience of the plot, rather than having a driving inner conflict, and the rest of the book (the side characters, the premise, the dialogue) was forced to be as ridiculous as possible to make up for the inherint inactivity of the main characters.
And no, I wouldn't count the couples instant attraction to each other a driving factor, seeing as they make a point to avoid the aforementioned lust for little to no reason.
It wasn't until the third act conflict kicked in that I looked up from my phone and wondered WHY I should want their relationship to survive it if all I can root for is the fact that Aiden has a big dick and Lucie really wants it.
If half decent banter and lust is what you want, this booktok stereotype does not disappoint. If you ask for anything more, I would suggest something else.
