Wrong Brother, Right Match by Jennifer Shirk
5.0
Kennedy “Ken” Pepperdine thought her day couldn’t get any better until… Matthew “Matt” Ellis is the man who followed in his dad’s footsteps. His mother is very sweet and because it’s that time of year it reminds me of how much I miss mine. Even though I may have felt melancholy about that it didn’t stop me from enjoying this story.
My one disappointment was that it was too short. The story takes place in Massachusetts – my home state – and I never got to see the Cape as they celebrated the Christmas season. After reading this book I just may have to change that. I’ve never taken a true vacation around this time of year but if I pack my bags I’ll just have to make sure and take this book with me.
This was a story that had me wanting to laugh, yell at two of the characters for two totally different reasons, and made me remember what Christmas is all about. It’s also a story that you could read any time of year not necessarily just around the holidays. Because the holiday is not that far away, your time may be tight but this is a novella so it might be one that can fit into that tight schedule. We all need a time to relax and I can’t think of a better book. I just wish I was lucky enough to have a fireplace to cuddle up next to – will just have to settle for the electric blanket. Ms. Shirk writes a story about priorities. What is more important to you? Is it your family? Is it your significant other? Is it a pet? Or does your job come first? What are some of your favorite family traditions? Which is more reliable, your electronics or your heart? Maybe you will find some of those answers somewhere in this book. I also came away looking forward to reading more of this author’s work.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
