Unfortunately, this book didn't suit my taste. There were lots of grand statements that were meant to reflect Elle's idealistic views, but it left me cringing; though I can usually appreciate optimism, I felt that Elle's bordered on toxic.

Brendon & Elle were rather forceful on Darcy with their view of romance & dating; sure, Darcy was fearful, "running away" from love per se, but I thought they were rather condescending on that matter, especially at the start of the story. I wished they could've respected her pace. I thought a lot of the problems arose relating to Elle & Darcy's relationship were the fault of this failure.

I loved the grumpy x sunshine trope, but I felt the dynamic skewed too heavily on the idealistic, so much so, it felt rather unconvincing. There were also family issues weaved into the story. Often, they were the root cause to the MCs insecurities, making them rather central to the plot. But the resolution felt like an easy take after all the complications, so that was a moot point for me.

But if you love a straight-forward, bright eyed view on romance with fake-dating and enemies-to-lovers trope, this book might be your cup of tea.
