Ain't I a Woman: Black Women and Feminism by bell hooks

informative reflective medium-paced

5.0

“The process begins with the individual woman’s acceptance that American women, without exception, are socialized to be racist, classist and sexist, in varying degrees, and that labeling ourselves feminists does not change the fact that we must consciously work to rid ourselves of the legacy of negative socialization.”

Bell Hooks presents an accessible work about intersectionality and feminism. I think that the narrative is informative and well written, and I think it clearly highlights how traditional feminist ideologies have historically been very exclusionary to women of color.
