The story revolves around Courtney, a young woman thrust into a perilous situation who seeks refuge in the imposing Morelli Mansion. Little does she know that her brother's boss, Maximus Morelli, a man cloaked in danger and desire, will be the one to watch over her. 

Maximus, with his possessive nature and intimidating presence, embodies the classic antihero. His infatuation with Courtney ignites a spiral of thrilling tension as he struggles with his feelings while enforcing a boundary that he knows he should uphold.

What truly stands out for me is the author’s ability to weave the themes of protection and possession into a deeply satisfying story.
