Lets talk about how Bridgerton season 3 destroyed Penelope’s character

There will be spoilers for both the season and the book and like always, if you liked the season happy for you, this is just my opinion

I loved the Bridgerto books. Read them a long time ago and I love more what the series is bringing with diversity and representation and fixing some minor issues in the books. And as much as I loved the dynamic of the characters in s1 and 2, they did not work here

So by now most of you have watched the four episodes of season 3 Colin and Pen season
But it didn’t feel like it, it felt like the season of All the People in Bridgerton plus Colin and Pen
But this was not the glaring issue, it was what they reduced Penelope to.

Recap
In season 2, Pen has the worst night, she not only loses her best friend, Eloise, she also overhears Colin saying he would never court her to his friends, she cries and runs away. This is important because this is what Pen becomes in season 3 a crying runaway.
What this did was alienate Pen from all the Bridgerton leaving her with no support system

This is not the case in the book and I know the series is not supposed to be copy pase from the book but here is what happens in the book and you be the judge to which is better

Pen Hears Colin saying he'd never marry her to HIS BROTHERS not friends. Instead of running and crying, she hold her head high, fake indifference and she delivers one of the strongest defense comback ever.
with that, she secured the friendship of all the Bridgerton. (It is also mentioned that she is friends with LADY Bridgerton and looks up to her as a mother)
She is the one who advises Anthoy to let Colin travel because she understands Colin's personality.

Her relationship with Eloise remains very strong through the seven years after their season.
This is important because Pen and Eloise plan on living together when they are older

I need a Man

In the series they make Pen want and long for a husband, a Man to help her escape her family!! This defied all her love for Colin!
Where as in the book she states that she will never marry because it would be a betrayal to her husband to have feelings for another man.

In the series, she appeared so desperate for attention and to get a husband that she quickly forgave Colin and allowed him to “teach her how to catch a husband” seriously!!!

In the book, Pen just stopped giving a dam. And for that, her inner Whistldown started coming out. She is smart, holds her conversation and even manages to impress Lady Danbury who takes Pen under her wing
We do not see that in the series

Polin

She is friends with Colin in the book for years. They talk and play games and dares, so when the love hits him, we all sigh in relief because we know he was in denial.

We don’t see that in the series. He says they are friends and wrote her a letter but we never see that
And that scene when she reads his journal???
In the series, she is so flustered and apologetic, in the book she is fierce and stands up for herself. Then she states eloquently how beautiful and moving his writing is to the point where he lets her reread the journal a minute later.

And that carriage scene??? We’ve been robbed.. oh I know you were waiting for the passion, but I was waiting for the conversation where Pen lays it down to Colin. She schools him well and puts him in his place
Its when she tells him and he knows

That she doeas not NEED HIM
She Wants him

And we did not get that.
All we got was a whimpering, heaving, crying Pen who is looking for a man

Sorry, this point goes to the book
