I can't understand why this has such high ratings and reviews. I don't know. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either.
I felt like the author was trying too hard, too much angst and I didn't connected with the characters .
I didn't like how the author gave Jenna almost every psychological problem she could have! It felt excessive! Also, every adult character in Jenna's life is extremely abusive! It felt unnecessary, that Jenna had to endured such severe physical, sexual, and psychological abuse at the hands of every other adult in her life in an effort to paint Mr. Anderson in a better light, make him look like the hero of the story…
The book is supposed to be Jenna telling her story on a tape recorder but that didn't feel right! It was all over the place… It pull me out of the story every time I was reminded of that…
Also, her parents go from being very controlling to suddenly leaving her all by herself for a whole week? There're too many pot holes…
