I started to dislike Aelin by the second half of Empire of Storms. By the time I got to this novel I wanted to read about anyone else. I would have liked just reading about Dorian and Manon or Chaol again. It was a struggle to get through. I enjoyed the small little easter egg. The story itself is a great end to the book. Written down it's all wrapped up well. I just didn't connect with the main character by the end of the books. I wasn't going to not read the final book and DNF. I had to push myself to finish this series. It felt like homework or something. It made me stressed. The idea of having to finish this 1000 page book had me dreading it. I wish I could say differently. I would not read the series again. If I did it would be up until queen of shadows. The Assasians Blade and Tower of Dawn.
