WOW, FUCKING CRINGE. could be all i write in this review and it would be an accurate summary of this heaping garbage pile of words.

Like honestly, what a cool idea for a romance. I love the premise. and honestly? the twist was my favorite part. It felt almost thriller romance in a way?! but then the ending. yes, they all lived happily ever after hooray it’s a romance novel. NO. so much potential wasted on poor writing and so much forced acceptance of toxic behavior?! nooooooo no no no no no.

Look, i’m all for some toxic behavior dark romance type shit. that’s my jam. THIS could have been so cool if she went that direction, but instead she went this sort of weird “no, but he had this excuse for acting the way that he did! that makes him the good guy!! trust me!!” it was very jarring and kind of gross.

i’ve noticed in a few colleen hoover books that the stream of consciousness she writes for her characters is very odd and random in a “i’m fun and quirky” kind of way. it is my thirteenth reason. I hate it. I hate every book I read that has a character written this way. and coho ain’t the only one guilty of it. but it made this book painful to read.

overall just like UGH. this book felt like wearing an itchy sweater all day.
