I really enjoyed this prequel personally. The faster pace of the story helped me stay interested while I read this over a vacation. I thought the sex scenes were hot and passionate without being painfully long and were frequent enough to feel plenty of chemistry. It might be too frequent for others but I really enjoyed it.

The world-building was also nice and I think will be really lovely for going into Eternally Damned with a bit more context. I didn't notice any major issues with the author's writing and I personally found the writing style to flow really nicely. Overall I'm very excited to start on the next book!

Finally, there are also fairly graphic depictions of parental death and the ensuing mourning. There is a single, minor reference to sexual assault in the book; however, it's just a passing mention.
