The Help by Kathryn Stockett

5.0

At first I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to get past the idea of a white woman writing in a black woman’s voice. But, knowing this book was written in a less politically and socially charged time, I gave it a little grace. And I’m so glad I did. This author writes so beautifully. I cried many times. Reading the author’s personal note at the end helped to understand her own background, which was helpful as well.
