To Catch a Pirate by Jade Parker

5.0

What is this, the third or fourth time I have read To Catch a Pirate over the years? It's probably the book that started my love for pirating, seafaring novels back when I was 13 or 14.

It's a short, quick romance. But if you're looking for something to entertain you, and leave you sighing happily, this is the book.

Jade Parker is a surprisingly good writer and plots her novel well. There are plot twists and secrets, some decent character development considering how short the book is. I think of all the chick-lit novels you could be reading, she's put a fair amount of effort into cultivating her craft of writing (this easily could have been a much, much cheesier novel).

So I recommend it, and it's one I read once a year or so when I want a taste of pirate romance. What can I say? It's my guilty pleasure. ;) Drink up, me hearties, yo ho!

Content: Advisory:Some drinking, a few d--- curses, several kissing, references a man being a charmer/experienced with women, also references that if caught what would be done to a woman on a pirate ship- nothing descriptive. Some violence with people getting shot or stabbed, someone is whipped pretty badly, but it's not very graphic. No sexual content.
