Well written, considering the age group that it was intended for.
I remember that this is the book that got me hooked on the "Dear Canada" Series when I was about seven. It seemed like a good mix: a story about a older girl than I on an exiting journey, and I could learn something while I read; history and some french. One of my favorites of what I have read.
